Sports, Deep Tissue and Remedial Massage

Massage provides a wide range of treatments to relieve pain, promote relaxation and restore movement. It is extremely effective combined with acupuncture for musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain.

Sports, Deep Tissue and Remedial Massage all use the same techniques and principles in a way that best meets the specific needs of the individual. Rather than simply trying to fix a problem I will always assess the underlying problem and offer advice and aftercare. For example, advice may include correcting postural positions whilst working at a computer which could be a major contributor to the pain/condition. It could also include specific stretches for a muscle group that are short and need to be lengthened thus rebalancing your body. Other exercises may be aimed at strengthening or conditioning certain parts of the body that may be weak.

Massage can:

  • Reduce pain

  • Restore normal movement

  • Help recovery from injury

  • Ease aching muscles

  • Prevent injury

  • Correct postural problems

  • Maintain health

  • Reduce stress

  • Encourage relaxation

Relief from:

  • General aches and pains

  • Accidents or injuries

  • Sporting problems

  • Occupational injuries

  • Post-surgery

Cupping

Cupping therapy is amazing at treating soft tissue injuries and gives the deepest massage you ever had. Cupping stimulates the flow of blood encouraging nutrients to the area and helps toxins to be carried away. Excellent for releasing stiffness, eliminating aches and pains.

Cupping is where a dome-shaped cup is placed on the area to be treated and the air is taken from the cup creating a vacuum. This sucks up the tissue and is effective up to 4 inches creating a powerful effect and the best back massage. What is unique about this therapy is that a lot of massage techniques will use perpendicular pressure whereas cupping sucks up the muscle.

Heat Lamp Therapy

Heat lamps provide warmth which penetrates deep into the body. Not only is the sensation deeply relaxing.

  • Promotes circulation which is essential for recovery from injuries and for maintaining general health

  • Penetrates heat up to 3.5 inches into the body easing aches, sprains, and relieving spasms

  • Used in China to treat over 100 conditions including arthritis, joint pain, and low back pain

Moxa

Moxibustion refers to the burning of a dried plant called Mugwort (or Moxa) as an accompaniment to acupuncture to heat specific acupuncture points. Moxa stimulates circulation and warms the body.

Electro Acupuncture

This is where acupuncture needles are attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses using small clips. These devices are used to adjust the frequency and intensity of the impulse being delivered, depending on the condition being treated. Electroacupuncture is often used in chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions.

Electroacupuncture does not hurt but patients sometimes experience a mild tingling sensation. "It is because of the twelve Primary channels that people live, that disease is formed, that people are treated and disease arises." (Spiritual Axis, chapter 12)
